Fishing over a dead town

They say that home is where your heart is and I believe this statement to be true. My heart belongs to the crystal clear water of the Quabbin reservoir. All my life the Quabbin has been there. It was there for many a lazy afternoon eating venison salami with good friends off the back of the boat. It was also a scary place where quick decisions and large quantities of swear words were used after a monster salmon slips off a line.

I have a deep appreciation for the Quabbin and for the wildlife that calls it home after it was flooded. The Massachusettes Division of fisheries and wildlife work hard to make sure that the Quabbin is in good health and remain filled with diversity. At the Quabbin, you’ll expect to catch Lake trout(Toag/Lakers), Brown trout, Rainbow trout, Brook trout, Chain pickerel, and both large and small mouth Bass. My favorite to fish for is known as the Freshwater landlocked salmon just like the one in the picture below.img_0330
